KAAHU PARTNERS WITH '1% FOR THE PLANET'
Some things are built into the way we work
Kaahu didn’t begin as a business idea. It began as a way of doing things—quietly, carefully, and with attention to consequence.
In Hawaiian, Kaahu refers to a guardian or companion—something that stays close and carries meaning. That spirit shapes our pace, our priorities, and the places we choose to support.
As part of that, we’ve joined 1% for the Planet. With each purchase, a portion of our revenue supports environmental organizations working toward long-term ecological resilience—through land protection, biodiversity, and community-led sustainability.
This isn’t something we added later. It’s part of how we were set up.
About 1% for the Planet
1% for the Planet is a global network of businesses and nonprofits committed to moving direct support toward environmental repair. Members commit one percent of annual revenue—not profit—to vetted organizations working in climate, conservation, and regenerative livelihoods.
Since its founding, the network has directed over $672 million to environmental initiatives in more than 110 countries—restoring forests, protecting watersheds, and supporting Indigenous land defense, among others.
It’s a structure designed to keep giving clear. And steady.
At Kaahu, design is a form of responsibility
We think carefully about what we make, and just as carefully about how.
Each Kaahu piece is designed with restraint and purpose, using natural materials and low-impact methods. We don’t follow seasonal cycles. We don’t treat sustainability as something to market. It’s accounted for—at every stage.
We believe that what we carry should reflect what we value. We build each piece to hold up over time, and to carry meaning long after it’s left our hands.
